Wi-Fire Boosts Wi-Fi Signals

While there isn’t any concrete evidence that living under a blanket of Wi-Fi signals could cause harm to our bodies, there are some people who would rather be safe than sorry and hence, this group will most definitely avoid the Wi-Fire at all costs. What does the Wi-Fire do? Well, this USB device will boost Wi-Fi signals by using a directional antenna and a powerful receiver that works in tandem with its proprietary software. This setup allows a computer to detect and access wireless sources within a 1,000 foot radius – now that’s real performance if you ask me. While Ubergizmo has yet to do a test on this claim, the good people at Maximum PC were surprised as being “350 feet from the router, with the signal passing through an insulated, double-thick interior wall and a steel garage door, the Wi-Fire delivered TCP throughput of 14.5Mb/s.” What do you think of this $79 USB device – is it worth every penny?
