S-Touch FingerTip controller might just see slimmer touchscreen devices down the road

STMicroelectronics’ S-Touch FingerTip controller is said to deliver true multi-touch capability – and even better is word of it delivering unlimited simultaneous touches. Well, we suppose that works great in theory, but just how many fingers can you cram comfortably onto a touchscreen display without breaking the bank? Covering that, the FingerTip also enhances multi-touch actions including pinch-to-zoom and stylus operation support for an enhanced user experience. Not only that, advanced noise cancellation makes this the first of its kind to support the latest on-cell LCD technology without having to have a ground shielding layer between the display and the touch sensor, resulting in potentially thinner touchscreen LCD modules down the road without sacrificing on image quality. Just how soon will it be before we can see this hit the market in new devices? Hopefully soon.
