Call of Duty: Black Ops sets a new revenue record

Executives at Activision Publishing must clearly be laughing their way to the bank, as Call of Duty: Black Ops has gained top spot in terms of revenue earned through a worldwide five-day sales period, shattering theatrical box office, book and video game sales records all in a row. This new new five-day worldwide sell-through record has surpassed the $650 million mark, which was a record previously held by Activision’s Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 – surpassing it by a cool $100 million at the very least. Recession – what recession? Of course, with such a phenomenal sales figure, it goes without saying that Black Ops received the highest number of pre-orders ever, and you know that this game ain’t a turkey based on its predecessor’s response which paved the way for the success of now.
