Baidu reportedly working on a $158 Android-based smartphone of its own

Baidu is China’s answer to Google, and following in Google’s footsteps, Baidu has launched a mobile platform of their own which is based on Google’s Android operating system. The platform dubbed Baidu Yi has found its way onto the Dell Streak Pro D43 (pictured above), but now it looks like the company is set to release an affordable smartphone of their own that would cost around 1,000 CNY (~$158). Not much is known about the internal specs of the upcoming device, but it has been revealed that it could feature a 3.5” display, Baidu’s services such as cloud storage integrated into the device, a camera reportedly featuring a high megapixel count, and a 1,400mAh battery. As a comparison, the Dell Streak Pro D43 costs 2,999 CNY (~$475), therefore making Baidu’s upcoming smartphone a much more attractive option for those shopping on a budget.
