The Lumawake is a “smart dock” for your iPhone

YouTube Poster

Docks for the iPhone are a dime a dozen, and apart from propping your iPhone up and charging it, they don’t really do much to be honest, at least until the Lumawake came along. On the surface it seems that the Lumawake is your standard fare iPhone dock, but that’s only the tip of the iceberg. Not only will the Lumawake let you charge your iPhone, it will allow users to use either the older 30-pin connector, or the Lightning adapter depending on which iPhone they are using. Now that the basic stuff is out of the way, let’s get onto the more interesting aspects of the Lumawake.

Some of you might have already surmised from the name that it might have something to do with your sleep, and it does. By utilizing an IR sensor and an accompanying app, the Lumawake will monitor your sleep and body movements and is reportedly able to tell when it’s time for you to wake up. Instead of blaring an alarm that will jolt you to your senses, the Lumawake will instead attempt to simulate sunrise via its built-in LEDs (which will also help you find the dock in the dark). On top of that, the creators of Lumawake say that the dock (or smart dock) will also play nice with home automation systems, drawing open the blinds and even making a pot of coffee upon you waking up.

The Lumawake is currently seeking funding in order to be made a reality and a pledge of $150 will net you the dock once it has been successfully funded. At this time of posting the project has managed to rack up close to $33,000 out of its $150,000 goal, so head on over to its website for more information or to donate – in the meantime you can check out the video above to see it in action!
