Acer Teases Upcoming Low-Budget Android Tablets To Rival Google, Amazon

Acer announced its Iconia B1 a few weeks ago as a $150 Android tablet, which we’re sure is being manufactured to go up against the Nexus 7 and Kindle Fire HD. It looks as though Acer isn’t completely done supplying low-end Android tablets as the company has hinted at possibly releasing 8- and 10-inch quad-core tablets sometime in 2013 that will also be low-end Android tablets.

Acer CEO Linxian Lang spoke with the China Times in regards to manufacturing more tablets in additional sizes and price points. The tablets Lang hinted at would be quad-core tablets priced between $202 to $236.

Lang also revealed the company’s projections in regards to its sales as they expect to ship 200 million tablets this year with 80 million of those being higher-end models.

A quad-core low-budget Android tablet would certainly gain some attention from potential customers seeing how there aren’t many quad-core low-budget Android tablets in the market yet. We’re still not entirely sure when the Iconia B1 will make its debut, and until it does become available, we’ll sit tight and in hopes Acer announces the availability of the Iconia B1 or any other additional Android tablets it’s planning to release this year.
