Don’t you wish that you could run two versions of Android at once, and swap between them at a touch of a button? Well to be honest we’re not sure how many of you would say yes, but if you ever wanted to do something like that, a couple of students at the St. Petersburg Academy have managed to come up with a way to do just that. Like we said earlier, while we’re not sure if this is something most users will appreciate or need, but we guess for developers who want to test their apps, mods or tweaks on different versions of Android, this will no doubt help with that.
Helped out by the folks behind Parallels, the students have developed a tool that allows for the switching between Android ROMs in a pinch, and keeps your data intact on both ROMs, meaning that you will no longer need to constantly back your data up while switching ROMs (although we guess this might be a good idea anyway). There is a drawback to this tool which is that it drains your phone’s battery by 10% while switching between ROMs, but assuming you keep your phone plugged in, it’s not that big of a deal. As it stands the students have been testing their tool on a Samsung Galaxy S2 with outdated ROMs but did mention they will be testing this feature out on the Nexus S as well.
