Some Early PS4 Units Reportedly Experiencing Bricking Issues

ps4-stockSony’s PlayStation 4 console is expected to see a release on the 15th of November although for a lucky few, they have already gotten their hands on the device, namely through pre-releases for the media or to competition winners. In any case it seems that so far despite the console having not been released to the masses yet, there have already been reports of the console bricking. This occurs despite the blue pulse appearing when the console has been switched on, but other than that nothing else will load. There’s no telling if these are isolated incidents or if there truly is an issue that Sony needs to address ASAP, but the good news is that a fix has since been found.

According to the post on Reddit, if your PS4 encounters this problem, all you need to do is unplug your HDD, boot the console without the HDD, switch it off, plug the HD back in, and boot it up and your console will boot into Safe Mode and you should be able to recover the necessary OS data. Like we said since the PS4 has yet to be released officially, there’s no telling if this problem will affect many users or if this fix will work, but it should be worth taking a note of just in case your officially released copy of the device does run into this issue.
