Android KitKat Passes 21% Market Share Among Android Devices

kitkat-shareIt must be noted that Google’s Android KitKat operating system version was introduced to the world just last October, and it took a couple of months before it made its way to be part of the Android distribution statistics. Well, slowly but surely, Android KitKat is starting to appear on additional devices, as manufacturers such as Asus continue to do their part in order to deliver updates so that users will remain happy. Just how far has KitKat come since its release? Far enough to make up 21% of the Android market, actually.

Between August 5 and August 12, KitKat is now available on 20.9% of all devices that jive to the Android platform, which is a three percent jump from July, while it stood at 13.6% another month back, steadfastly pointing to the fact that KitKat’s growth is on the rise and does not look like it is going to stop anytime soon.

This automatically translates to the fact that there are less devices that will run on Android Jelly Bean (including 4.1, 4.2 and 4.3), although it goes without saying that Jelly Bean is still the most popular version of Android as it runs on 54.2% of all Android-powered devices, making this the “Internet Explorer” of the Android world at the moment. How long do you think it will be before KitKat commands the allegiance of the majority of devices?
