Asus ZenFone 2 Bootloader Unlocked

Asus ZenFone 2 has managed to make a name for itself despite the fact that it’s not giving high-end flagships from manufacturers like Samsung and Apple a run for their money, but the handset does offer decent specifications at a very competitive price point and thus it’s a compelling option for people who are willing to consider other manufacturers for their smartphone fix. Since the Asus ZenFone 2 bootloader has been unlocked, users now have endless customization options for their device.

If the bootloader is locked on an Android device users can’t flash custom firmware on it, and many Android users do like to tinker with the software on their handsets.

Many manufacturers still keep the bootloaders on their devices locked and discourage users from unlocking them so that they’re able to control the software experience, and also safeguard the device to an extent against malicious software.

That has never stopped Android users from tinkering around though, like XDA member ravian29 by publishing a method to unlock the Asus ZenFone 2’s bootloader.

The process requires that root access be obtained first before the device is rooted but that’s always the first step on any Android device, it’s not a complicated process and the XDA thread notes that there may not be any loss of data if all of the instructions are followed to the letter.

Even so, it would be wise to backup any important data before proceeding to root and unlock the bootloader of the Asus ZenFone 2.
