Apple Releases OS X El Capitan

A couple of weeks back Apple released iOS 9 for supported devices, the new firmware was shown off back at WWDC 2015 where Apple also launched OS X El Capitan. With the mobile firmware out of the way we knew it was only a matter of time before the latest iteration of OS X was released to the public. Apple today released OS X El Capitan which is now available for download over-the-air.

As has been the case with OS X updates over the past few years El Capitan is available as a free download from the App Store, it’s one major aspect that contributes to rapid adoption of the latest iteration.

OS X El Capitan doesn’t bring much in the way of revolutionary new features however Apple has made some good improvements to existing features, for example Maps gets public transit, there’s Split View for apps, Safari gets pinned tabs and enhancements have also been made to Spotlight and the native Notes and Mail apps.

It also applies a new font called San Francisco across the entire operating system, you might catch the change if you have a good eye for subtle changes.

OS X El Capitan is rolling out right now, it may take a while for this update to go live for all markets across the globe.
