Xperia M4 Aqua is a good mid-range phone even though it doesn’t offer a significant amount of internal storage, 8GB doesn’t go a long way when the OS and bloatware take up a major chunk of it, fortunately the latest software update from Sony makes amends. The company has started rolling out a new software update which removes some preinstalled applications from the handset, subsequently freeing up much needed internal storage on the Xperia M4 Aqua.

Many Xperia M4 Aqua users had complained to Sony about the lack of internal storage since a major chunk of it was taken up by bloatware and the OS. Removing the OS obviously isn’t a possibility so the company decided to remove bloatware instead to address users’ concerns.

Software version 26.1.A.2.167 and 26.1.B.2.147 is now rolling out for Xperia M4 Aqua and the dual-SIM version of this handset respectively. It removes ten preinstalled applications which include Books, CloudPrint, FaceLock, GoogleTTS, Google Keep, Newsstand, News & Weather, Play Games as well as PlusOne and TalkBack.

The update also brings the usual slew of bug fixes and stability improvements for the device, Sony has started rolling it out today and the update should go live for users across all supported markets shortly.
