ASUS ROG Zephyrus Packs Hardcore Gaming Performance In A Slim Body

ASUS has launched a new gaming laptop under its Republic of Gamers brand. The ROG Zephyrus promises to provide desktop-grade gaming and virtual reality performance in an ultra-slim profile. The company has made this possible by using cutting-edge components and innovative cooling methods for the notebook. It’s actually the thinnest ROG laptop that ASUS has ever made, and it’s also among the most powerful.

At 17.9 mm thick and 2.24 kg, the Zephyrus is a bonafide portable notebook. Despite it’s portability, the laptop can be configured with up to Intel Core i7-770HQ processor with the latest NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 graphics card. The processor provides sufficient power for gaming and virtual reality with its quad Kaby Lake cores.

The notebook has an Active Aerodynamic System (AAS) which creates a 6mm opening in the bottom panel when the laptop lid is lifted for improved cooling. The fan housings have been crafted to accelerate intake and the blades are 33 percent thinner so that they push more air with each rotation.

There’s a dedicated blower, radiator, and heatpipe for the CPU and GPU. The GPU actually has another radiator all of itself. The power circuitry that feeds power to both chips gets its own heatpipe.

Other than that, the notebook has a 15.6 inch G-Sync display with refresh rates of up to 120Hz and a 1080p resolution. It can be configured with up to 24GB of DDR4-2400 memory and NVMe SSD drives of up to 1TB. The machine also features a USB Type-C port, an HDMI 2.0 port and four USB 3.1 ports.

ASUS is yet to confirm the pricing and release date for the ROG Zephyrus.
