ASUS ZenFone AR Launch Date Might Be June 14

ASUS first unveiled the ZenFone AR handset back at the Consumer Electronics Show 2017 in January. Not only was it referred to as the world’s first smartphone with a whopping 8GB of RAM, its claim to fame is that it’s one of the very few devices out there that have support for Google’s Project Tango mobile augmented reality technology.

ASUS didn’t confirm at CES 2017 precisely when this handset was going to be released. It confirmed details about the device itself but didn’t really say anything about the pricing and availability.

The ASUS ZenFone AR features a 23 megapixel primary camera with Sony IMX318 sensors coupled with depth sensing and motion tracking cameras. It can leverage Google’s Project Tango technology for a wide variety of augmented reality applications.

The company is now sending out invites for a launch event that going to take place on June 14th. The launch event will be where it finally confirms when the ZenFone AR is going to be announced and how much it’s going to cost.

The ASUS ZenFone AR is likely going to be launched in Taiwan on June 14th. It has already been confirmed that Verizon is going to be carrying this device in the United States. It merits mentioning here that the Verizon-bound variant of the ZenFone AR will only feature 6GB of RAM.
