OnePlus 5 Oreo Beta Update Release Due Soon

OnePlus has been testing Android 8.0 Oreo beta firmware for its handsets but it’s yet to confirm precisely when the major Android update will be released publicly for compatible smartphones. OnePlus CEO Carl Pei was recently asked on Twitter when the company intended to release Android 8.0 beta for OnePlus. His response was that the beta update is going to be out “soon.”

OnePlus announced the Android 8.0 Oreo beta preview for the OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T last week. Those who take part in the beta program are going to put the firmware through its paces for a couple of weeks before OnePlus decides to release the stable version.

The OnePlus 5 is the current flagship smartphone that OnePlus sells, even though it’s getting pretty difficult to get your hands on one right now. Pei was asked on Twitter if there’s going to be a beta program for the OnePlus 5 to which he replied “soon bro.”

This suggests that the company will be rolling out the beta firmware for the OnePlus 5 in the near future. Precisely when that’s going to happen is a mystery right now but given that Pei has commented on it publicly, it shouldn’t be long now.

OnePlus is also expected to unveil a new handset in the near future but the company hasn’t been dropping any hints about that recently.
