
Toyota will be offering their Prius with an option to add on Polycrystalline Si solar cells from Kyocera Corp. in Japan, where the said solar panel comprises of three dozen cells arranged nicely in six rows and an equal number of columns. Each cell will be half the size of the standard 15 x 15cm cell, boasting a cell conversion efficiency of 16.5% to deliver a maximum output of fifty-odd watts for the entire panel. All solar cell generated electricity will drive the ventilation fan, and for those who want to integrated the solar panel moonroof to their Prius can do so to the tune of around $2,076. Toyota has done its homework and certified these new solar cells to be extremely durable and tough.
