Govee Launches $99.99 Solar String Lights for Smart Backyard Lighting

Govee has launched its first outdoor solar string lights, a $99.99 set designed for people who want to light a patio, fence, or backyard without dealing with power cables or frequent battery swaps. The new Outdoor Solar String Lights are now available on Govee and Amazon.

Solar string lights are convenient, but many of the cheaper ones are limited in brightness, color options, and durability. Govee is trying to push that category a bit further by combining solar charging with app controls, customizable colors, and a more polished design that can withstand long-term outdoor use.

The lights work with the Govee Home app, which lets users change colors and create different lighting scenes from a phone. They also support RGBICW lighting, so the set can switch between decorative color effects and a softer white-light mode for everyday evening use. Govee lists that white-light output at 50 lumens, which puts the focus more on ambiance than on replacing a floodlight or porch light.

The key selling points are the solar setup and the outdoor durability. Govee says the system uses a 6W solar panel, which it compares to standard 4W alternatives, along with a battery setup rated for up to 13 hours of illumination. The lights also carry an IP67 waterproof rating and come with a 2-year warranty, which matters more than color-count marketing if they are going to stay out through rain and changing weather.

What sets this product apart is that most consumer solar string lights still rely on simpler warm-white setups or remote controls, while Govee combines solar power with app control and RGBICW color-changing effects in a single product.
