Android: Android is the mobile operating system from Google. The software was originally built by a company called Android Inc, that was purchased by Google in 2005. From its modest debuts, Android has become a powerhouse that powers not only smartphones and tablet, but a host of other less high-profile devices and gadgets. Apple Inc: Apple Inc was founded in 1976 by Steve Jobs, Steve Wozniak and Ronald Wayne as a computer company wich is often credited to have initiated personal computing. After a meteoric rise in the 80s, Apple had lost the personal computing battle against Microsoft and others in the 90s. But in the late 90s and early 2000s, the company came back to profitability by focusing on less products and started using industry-standard components. Apple's largest business is now in the smartphone space, with the iPhone representing more than half of the revenues and an even larger part of the profits. ARM: ARM usually refers to the company ARM holdings, which is now famous for being behind the processor designs of the large majority (some say 98%) of the smartphones in the world. The ARM Architecture is a set of instructions based on the idea of RISC (reduced instruction set computer) which says that reducing the number of instructions to the most basic enables faster execution of each instruction. ARM Licenses the instruction set or complete processor design to its clients, which includes Nvidia, Qualcomm, Marvell, Freescale, TI, ST-Ericsson and many others. 

Google: Google is an Internet Search company with profits mainly derived from its AdWords advertising program. Google is also known for other high-profile web-related products such as Chrome, GMail, Google Docs or Google Map, and it has also made a very successful entry into the mobile handset market with its Android mobile operating system. The company was created in 1998 and went public in 2004. Google is one of the most visited site in the world. 

iPad: the iPad is Apple's tablet computer. While not "invented" by Apple (the newton was arguably a PDA), the iPad has re-ignited the tablet format as it appeared at the right time, with the right hardware and apps. the first iPad was launched on April 2010. It was followed by the iPad 2 in March 2011 and a new iPad (gen 3) in 2012. 

SoC: SoC stands for 'system on a chip' or 'system on chip' which is a way to describe that a complete electronic system (like a computer) has been integrated on a single chip that includes processors, co-processors, memory, and all the associated data buses.
