AirPlayer Allows Your Mac To Receive AirPlay Videos

AirPlay is a nice way for iOS devices to stream videos to compatible devices though not everybody out there has paid the $99 to purchase the new Apple TV. Someone out there decided to come up with a clever hack to allow AirPlay to stream to the Mac, and it seems to work pretty well. The AirPlayer, and it’s called, creates and advertises a custom Bonjour AirPlay service that pretends to be an Apple TV, tricking the device into streaming video to it. The good news is that you won’t even need to jailbreak your iOS device in order to give this a try. The alpha ad-supported version of AirPlayer is already up for download online if you’re keen to give it a test drive. Check out a video of it in action after the jump.
