Apple and Samsung are rivals and there’s no denying it. However, both companies do seem to understand that there are benefits to working with each other, and that’s exactly what has happened. Samsung has recently announced that for its 2019 smart TVs, they will be bringing the new Apple TV app to it and also support for AirPlay 2.

According to Won-Jin Lee, Executive Vice President, Visual Display Business at Samsung Electronics, “For the last decade, Samsung has been at the forefront of offering the broadest selection of content available to consumers on our Smart TV platform. As the first TV manufacturer to integrate the Apple TV app on a Smart TV platform, Samsung continues to offer our customers incredible value and access to the Apple TV app experience on the largest screens available today.”

So what does this mean for customers? For those who do not own an Apple TV, having access to the Apple TV app means that you’ll be able to access your iTunes purchases, such as your TV shows and movies. The Apple TV app will also give users access to various subscriptions to other streaming services.

Plus, with support for AirPlay 2, users will be able to stream content from their iOS or Mac devices directly to the Samsung TV. While we imagine that Apple’s rumored TV set will most likely never materialize, this is probably the closest we’ll ever get to it.
