Absinthe-22

On Friday, the Chronic Dev Team released its Absinthe 2.0 untethered jailbreak for iOS 5.1.1 which supported a majority of Apple devices. When it was released, we made sure to let you know about it and it seems that the numbers for it have been gaining in leaps and bounds over the weekend due to the popularity of the untethered jailbreak release. According to the team behind Absinthe 2.0, it appears that it was used to jailbreak over one million iOS devices over a couple of days. With the jailbreak working on Apple’s latest device, the new iPad as well, the developers said, “Some stats since release of #Absinthe – 211,401 jailbroken iPad3’s (new iPad) and 973,086 (other) devices newly jailbroken! #JBFTW! ;D”

Despite the fact that the latest release works with a majority of devices, the figures are truly staggering. If you haven’t run the jailbreak on your iOS device and you’re looking to do it, just click here for more information, some instructions and download links. For those of you who are running a tethered jailbreak on the other hand and you’re looking to untether it, the Chronic Dev team also released the Rocky Racoon tweak for iOS 5.1.1 which can apparently do exactly that, so make sure to check that out as well at your own risk of course.
