While it seems that VLC currently does support Microsoft’s latest operating system, Windows 8, the company is hoping to make it a more native experience and are looking at bringing a fully featured port onto the new Windows 8 User Experience. The company is hoping to make a version that will support ARM-based tablets in the future, such as the Microsoft Surface RT tablet, and since they are looking at ARM, we wouldn’t be surprised if a version for Windows Phone 8 would be supported in the future as well! At the moment VLC itself is a free download, but the folks behind VLC are looking for a helping hand and have since launched a Kickstarter project where those interested can help fund the team’s project. We expect the software itself will still remain free upon successful completion, but for those who donate, they will have their names listed in the credits of the software along with some miscellaneous gifts such as key holders, a certificate, a t-shirt and etc. More information about the project can be found on its Kickstarter page.
