sp3 dockingWe suppose one of the benefits of a device like the Microsoft Surface Pro 3 is the fact that its can double as a laptop when you don’t need it to be a tablet, and vice versa, making it an extremely versatile device. That being said, if you’re thinking about using the Surface Pro 3 more as a desktop/laptop, you might be interested to learn that Microsoft has begun taking pre-orders for the Surface Pro 3 docking station via its website.

So what is the docking station, you ask? Well it’s basically a device that you can plug your Surface Pro 3 into. Not only will it help charge up your tablet, but it will give it access to a variety of ports that could essentially turn your tablet into a desktop of sorts. This includes ports like an Ethernet port, Mini DisplayPort, USB ports (3x USB 3.0, 2x USB 2.0), and you can even connect HD monitors, audio systems, printers, and more.

In case you needed a larger display, the Mini DisplayPort will be able to deliver video resolution up to 3840×2600 DPI, making it pretty handy if you want to either work on a larger screen or if you have something you want to share with your friends, family, or colleagues. Unfortunately the docking station does not come cheap as it is priced at $199.99, so unless you absolutely need those features, it is a pretty expensive accessory.
