macbook_air_2013_3-800x270We have heard rumors that Apple could be planning on launching a newer and thinner MacBook of the 12-inch variety by the end of the year which could possibly see a release in 2015. We can’t be sure as to how true those rumors are, but thanks a report from A Tech Website (via MacRumors), it seems that the laptop is on its way and that it could come in several different color options.

Interestingly enough the report claims that Apple will offer up three different colors to the new MacBook, and that they will be drawing inspiration from the iPhone in the sense that it will be offered in silver, space grey, and gold colors. It seems like a somewhat ludicrous claim but MacRumors claims to have heard themselves as well that Apple could have “special edition” colors planned for the rumored 12-inch MacBook.

We can’t really imagine what these laptops could look like with the new color options, although safe to say that it is a pretty big departure from Apple who has tended to go with minimalist designs, as opposed to other companies such as Nokia whose products are well-known for being bright and colorful.

The report goes on to state that the new laptops have been pegged for a mid-2015 launch which seems to contradict earlier rumors of a possible Q3 announcement. It is possible that the launch could have been postponed due to the delays with Intel’s next-gen Broadwell chips, but either way we’ll be keeping our eyes peeled for more info. In the meantime would you be interested in a gold MacBook?
