applovin_iphone_6_splitWhen Apple’s new iPhones were released, the initial numbers showed that the iPhone 6 clearly outsold the iPhone 6 Plus, which was a bit odd as you would have thought that many customers would have gone for the larger iPhone. However it turns out it was an issue of availability of the iPhone 6 Plus that caused the numbers to skew.

In fact a recent report revealed that the iPhone 6 Plus is now outselling the iPhone 6 by a factor of 3-to-1. That being said, is there a particular demographic that might actually prefer the larger iPhone to the smaller one? Well according to a report from AppLovin (via MacRumors), it seems the iPhone 6 Plus is more favored in Asian countries.

As you can see in the graph above, it shows the differences in the number of iPhone 6 units sold and iPhone 6 Plus units sold. We should note that this is based on both phones’ first 45 days of availability, so unsurprisingly the iPhone 6 is still outpacing the iPhone 6 Plus. The graphs also show that for the most part, Western countries like Australia, the US, UK, and so on favor the iPhone 6 Plus more or less equally.

However when we move over to Asian countries like South Korea, China, Japan, and so on, the numbers jump rather drastically. For example over in the Philippines, the iPhone 6 Plus’ adoption at 37% is more than twice that of Australia. These are very interesting stats and something Apple could take into consideration.

Of course given that there is still some supply constraint at the moment, the true ratio of demand can’t be known yet, as discussed by the iPhone’s marketing chief Greg Joswiak, but what do you guys think of these numbers so far?
