twitter-emergencyIf you were to browse Facebook or Instagram on your smartphone and you come across a video clip, they will automatically play. This can be potentially annoying for some users, but for the most part if you scroll fast enough it probably won’t even end up affecting your experience too greatly.

That being said if you’re one of those who finds the autoplay feature to be an annoyance, you might be pleased to learn that Twitter could be considering disabling the feature on their timeline. A recent report from Adweek has revealed that Twitter is still on the fence regarding the autoplaying of videos that appears in the timelines of its users.

The reason behind this is because Twitter is worried about disrupting its user experience if they were to enable that feature. While this might be good news for Twitter users, there is also another side to consider – ad revenue. By autoplaying videos, it would certainly increase the amount of ads viewed by the user.

However at the same time, Twitter’s video ads pay out around 2 cents per video, versus $1 that advertisers pay other social networks. While this is potential revenue to be had, we’re guessing the 2 cents per video might not be worth it to disrupt user experience and upset long-time users in the process, but what do you guys think? Would you object to autoplaying of videos on Twitter?
