Now that the Apple Watch event is over and we know when it will ship some of the finer details are finding their way online. The Apple Watch will ship with 8GB of internal storage but don’t expect to fill all of it up with music that you can listen to while you’re out on your run. Only 2GB of internal storage will be allowed for music, and since there’s no way to expand storage, that’s what you’ll be stuck with.

The folks at 9to5mac have confirmed with Apple that its smartwatch really does come with 8GB of onboard storage. The company also confirmed that users will only be able to store up to 2GB of music on the wearable device. Up to 75MB has been allocated for the Photos app.

Those who pay $10,000 for the Apple Watch Edition models shouldn’t expect to get more storage. Apple has confirmed that all three collections, Sport, Watch and Edition feature the same 8GB storage.

All locally stored content, like music and photos, can then be accessed even when the Apple Watch is not hooked up to an iPhone, which is absolutely essential for other features like email, notifications, messaging and more.

In case you’re wondering what the remaining 6 or so GB of storage is for, some of it will account for applications, the operating system and native apps, as well as for other data like app caches and settings.
