It was reported a few months back that multiple online video streaming services were trying to score exclusive online streaming rights of Seinfeld, one of the most popular TV shows ever made. Hulu, Yahoo and Amazon Instant Video were said to be in the running and now it has been confirmed that the online exclusive home of Seinfeld is Hulu. This is a major win for Hulu as Seinfeld commands a very loyal fanbase to this day, despite the fact that it has been over a decade since the final season aired.

One might have thought that Netflix would have wanted to pick up Seinfeld but apparently it dropped out of the race. Netflix already has the rights to Friends, another rerun favorite.

While financial terms of the deal have not been disclosed, it’s reported that the deal might have cost Hulu between $130 million and $180 million. Hulu will be the exclusive online streaming home of all nine season, 180 episodes, of Seinfeld.

Jerry Seinfeld himself confirmed that Hulu will stream full-length NBC version of the show and not the re-edited or sped up versions that are being aired as reruns on TV these days.

“Now you will see the full thing as Larry and I cut it in the ’90s as we thought it was best,” he said.
