apple watch strapsPhotos shown on a website for a product are usually pretty different when seen in real life, meaning that the Apple Watch Sport strap that you’ve chosen for yourself which looks good in the photos might not necessarily look so good when you put it on. Unfortunately heading to an Apple store and swapping it out isn’t possible at this point, and dropping more money for a replacement strap doesn’t seem very cost efficient either.

This is where websites like iBandSwap come into play. Basically this is a website where Apple Watch owners come together and swap Apple Watch bands with one another. So far it seems that only the Sport bands are being swapped which is understandable given that the metal and leather bands are more expensive and also have a more “classic” look to them, thus making them easier to pair with clothes and whatnot.

According to iBandSwap, “Our goal is to put you in touch with someone who wants what you have, it’s that simple. We don’t charge you for this service (like some sites do), and we don’t take a cut of any deal you negotiate. We’re just about communication, and putting you in touch with a fellow person who wants to swap bands.”

According to the site’s creator Alistair Barclay, there are about 530 users who have registered so far with about 148 matches having been made. How it works is that when you’re matched with someone willing to swap, your contact information is exchanged and users will take it from there.

Barclay admits that there is a risk factor albeit a small one. “It’s a small risk and I like to think that most people who are buying a Watch are good people and have no interest in duping someone, as there isn’t really any money involved.” So if you have an Apple Watch strap that you’d like to swap, pop on over to iBandSwap for the details.
