We have been hearing for a few weeks now that LG is building a new Windows Phone handset that will be exclusively offered by Verizon. There were quite a few leaks as well and renders of the device appeared online recently, it was reported that the device might be launched later this month, but Verizon has gone ahead with the announcement today. The LG Lancet Windows Phone device has been formally launched by Big Red.

By no means is it a high-end flagship handset even if that’s something that many Windows Phone fans have been craving for. LG’s new Windows Phone device is just a low-end smartphone.

It has a 4.5 inch FWVGA 854×480 pixel resolution display, a 1.2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 processor with 8GB onboard storage, microSD support, VGA front and 8 megapixel rear camera, 2,100mAh battery and 4G LTE support.

It comes with Windows Phone 8.1 installed right out of the box but the handset will receive an update to Windows 10 Mobile when the new software arrives later this year.

Verizon is running a promotion at launch which brings down the Lancet’s price to just $19.99 with a new two year contract on the carrier. Those who prefer to buy the device outright will have to pay $120, which isn’t that much to ask for a smartphone with these specifications.
