apple watchAssuming that Apple maintains their timeline of releasing a new product refresh on an annual basis, it is safe to assume that in 2016, we could be getting a glimpse at the next-gen Apple Watch. Not much is known about the device at the moment, but according to recent rumors, word has it that LG could be the sole supplier of display panels for the device.

This seems to go against Apple’s usual business practice of soliciting multiple component suppliers. This is usually done so that Apple does not have to rely on a single company which could hinder the progress of their production should anything crop up. It also makes them less reliant on companies, like in the case of Samsung where there was some bad blood between both companies due to a lawsuit.

However it seems that in this case, Apple has decided to use LG for the Apple Watch’s P-OLED display as the company’s display is currently unmatched in the market, or at least it is what Apple is looking for in a display. It is also expected that LG will earn as much as $20 per Apple Watch, although how much of that is profit remains to be seen.

That being said apart from this piece of rumor, not much is known about the second-gen Apple Watch. So far reviews of the wearable have been mixed, with some praising the design of the device, while others aren’t a huge fans of its performance or features, but hopefully whatever Apple has planned, it will address the concerns of its users.
