Butterfleye is a new simple, smart and wireless home monitoring camera that users infrared technology to sense activity and start recording, allowing users to see and hear what’s happening in their home while they’re away. It’s a bit different from other similar products since Butterfleye uses Activity Based Recording to record only when pets, humans or specific sounds are detected. This eliminates the need to sort through empty footage and also reduces the amount of false alarms.

When activity is detected Butterfleye will send a notification to the user’s smartphone, it relies upon a combination of Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and Cloud technologies to make this happen. It will send smarter notifications over time as Butterfleye’s unique algorithm and multiple sensors will learn user’s routines and habits so that in the future minor events like the lights switching on or off, action on the TV or tree branches moving outside are not reported as an alarm.

The companion app for iOS and Android will provide users with a daily video newsfeed of individual events recorded throughout the day so that they can easily review the day’s activity. Butterfleye is cord-free and has a rechargeable lithium ion battery that’s good for two weeks on a single charge. It provides full 1080p HD recording, 12 hours of internal storage, one day of free rolling cloud storage, LAN/WAN/IP direct stream, motion, audio, light and accelerometer sensors and more.

Butterfleye is seeking $100,000 through a crowdfunding campaign on Indiegogo to start mass production, first 300 units will be offered for $199 and then limited quantities will be available for a pledge of $385.
