As technology advances, carmakers tend to add new features to future models as each generation becomes more hi-tech than its predecessor. For example some cars use digital displays to show how fast they’re going, while some cars still rely on the good old speedometer. However that’s something that the Exploride wants to change.

The Exploride is basically a gadget that promises to turn your car into a smart car. As not all cars come with touchscreen displays or controls to control their mobile devices while driving, it can lead to accidents sometimes, which is what Exploride wants to avoid. According to its creators, “This is why we designed Exploride. A completely new way of accessing everything you need in your car in one place with simple distraction-free controls.”

The end result is a pretty futuristic-looking device that can sit on top of your car’s dashboard and provide information to the driver, and thanks to its see-through display, it will also allow drivers to keep their eyes on the road at the same time. It comes with its own LTE connectivity built-in so that it can access features and services like Pandora, Spotify, Google Maps, and more.

It also features a Bluetooth-capable OBD adapter that can plug into your car and extract diagnostic data so that you know if your tire pressure is low, fuel consumption, and so on, although all of this will largely depend on your car’s computer and what kind of information it is capable of reporting.

It is a pretty awesome idea and it seems to be quite a success on Indiegogo. The project has managed to raise over $100,000 in seven days and if you’d like to get in on the action, hit up its Indiegogo page for the details.
