meizu go proEarlier Meizu had sent out invites for an event that they will be hosting on the 23rd of September. The invite simply read, “Meizu Go Pro”. This led to many to believe that this could be a new smartphone announcement. After all Meizu is known as a smartphone maker, especially in markets such as China.

However it turns out that might not be the case. According to a tweet by a certain Nikos Komis, a photo has been leaked which shows that the Meizu Go Pro is actually an action camera. As you can see in the photo, the Meizu Go Pro really looks like an actual GoPro camera. At this point the details of the device is scarce, so we’re not too sure what to make of it.

It could be that Meizu has simply copied the looks of the GoPro in their attempts to make such a device themselves. Alternatively this could be a collaboration between Meizu and GoPro, although we’re not sure why GoPro would lend their name to Meizu, or why Meizu would need to borrow GoPro’s name.

It is possible that maybe with GoPro’s branding the camera will gain more traction in the market, but like we said details are a bit scarce for now. Either way hopefully we will find out more come 23rd of September, but until then do take it with a grain of salt for now.
