If you’ve ever held conference calls on Google Hangouts, you know that there are various tools to spice things up. This comes in the form of hats, wigs, moustaches, and other weird and fun accessories that you can add to your video calls to make them a bit more fun. Interestingly enough it seems like Skype has finally decided to join in on the fun as well.

The company has recently announced a new feature for its messaging app called Mojis. According to the company, “Mojis are short clips from your favorite movies and TV shows that you can put directly into a Skype chat when words aren’t enough to capture for that “ah-hah,” “haha,” or “yikes” moment.”

However unlike Google Hangouts, Mojis for Skype are more like animated GIFs and can be applied to both talking and texting to your contacts. In some ways it is also reminiscent of Facebook Messenger’s GIF feature where you can select from a variety of animated GIFs to drop into your conversations, making them more entertaining and funny.

Skype’s Mojis will however be sourced from more established partners, where they will offer Mojis from the Muppets, Jurassic Park, Pitch Perfect, Despicable Me, and Bridesmaids, with Skype planning on adding more in the future. This feature will be available across its mobile and desktop apps, so keep an eye out for the update that should be headed your way very soon.
