twitter-buynowIn the middle of last year, ‘Buy Now’ buttons had started to appear on the Twitter app – and it looks like that innovation has gathered more than enough steam to warrant an expansion – an expansion which will hopefully be able to benefit not only businesses but everyday consumers as well. Interim CEO Jack Dorsey has made moves for the company to grow its support for ecommerce platforms, and having tested the ‘Buy Now’ button for more than a year, expect to see it achieve a wider availability through partnerships with various notable e-commerce platforms.

In other words, customers can pick up products from select retailers, all without having to leave the Twitter experience. So far, Shopify, Bigcommerce and Demandware have worked alongside Twitter, letting merchants on these services to offer fast access to checkouts through a button that is cleverly embedded into tweets. This particular feature is available only to merchants that operate within the boundaries of the US, although one can expect that this will not be the case in teh future.

It remains to be seen, however, just how fast this ‘Buy Now’ button will be implemented outside of the US, although we are quite sure that a fair bit of testing and trials will need to be conducted beforehand. [Press Release]
