Google-chromecast-2015-02

Dish was quick to move into the online TV streaming space earlier this year with the launch of its own service called Sling TV. Initially the service only supported a couple of platforms but since then it has been expanded to cover most major mobile and TV platforms. Today it adds yet another one to the list. Those who own a Google Chromecast can now stream content via the Sling TV app.

Sling TV’s app for iOS and Android now supports Google Chromecast, as part of this launch Sling is offering a free Chromecast dongle to new customers who prepay three months for Sling TV’s Best of Live TV package.

Existing Chromecast owners get a two-month free trial for a limited time of the same Best of Live TV package, they will be able to sign up for this trial via the Chromecast website later today.

For now Sling TV only supports Chromecast on Android and iOS smartphones and tablets, the company promises that support for Windows and Mac laptops is going to be added in the near future. Other platforms that Sling TV supports includes Amazon’s Fire TV streaming devices, Roku, Android TV and even the Xbox One.

Though it hasn’t been confirmed yet, I fully expect a Sling TV app for the new Apple TV to arrive in the coming months.
