Last year we reported that work was being done on a Mass Effect theme park. If you’re a fan of the franchise we can only imagine how exciting this prospect must mean to you. The good news is that you won’t have to wait much longer because a tweet by California’s Great America has confirmed that the theme park ride will open May 18th.

Dubbed New Earth, this will be a 4D amusement ride. For those who are unfamiliar with 4D rides or movies, basically in addition to being able to see the movie, you will also be able to feel the movie. For example Universal Studios has a 4D Shrek ride where you will feel gusts of wind and sprays of water that are designed to help augment the movie experience.

Some rides even feature seats that will shake and move to coincide with what’s being shown on the screen. According to the announcement from last year, ride goers will be able to climb “aboard motion-based seating and [wearing] 3D glasses, [while] live performers will curate the journey and interact seamlessly with the ‘next generation 3D visual.'”

For those interested in checking out the ride, California’s Great America has published the prices of their Season Pass. It will range in prices from as low as $11.16 in 6 easy payments; $14.50 in 6 easy payments; or $34 in 6 easy payments, with the benefits of each tier being listed on its website.
