model-s-refresh

It was first rumored about a week ago that Tesla could soon launch a refreshed model of its Model S sedan and that’s precisely what the company has done today. It’s the most expensive sedan that the company has in its product lineup right now and the refresh comes hot on the heels of the Model 3’s announcement, the mass-market electric sedan isn’t going to enter production before 2017.

The refreshed Tesla Model S brings a design update as well. It has a new front end and headlights that closely resemble those on the Model X. Tesla is also offering several new interior finish choices which are now available to be configured online through the company’s website.

As previously reported, the refreshed Model S also gets Tesla’s ultra-efficient air filtration system that the cabin calls “bioweapon defense mode,” this debuted with the Model X crossover last year and has now made its way to the Model S sedan.

Tesla promises that this filtration system is capable of filtering out 99.97 percent of particulate exhaust pollution and effectively all bacteria, allergens and other contaminants from the air inside the cabin.

It also gets a 48-amp charger as standard as opposed to the previous 40 amps charger, Tesla points out that this will enable the car to charge faster when it’s connected to higher-amp outlets. No changes have been made to the pricing and the rumored 100kwh battery option hasn’t been included in this refresh.
