Headphones are a dime a dozen and we’ve got so many choices to choose from, whether it be a pair of earbuds, in-ear headphones, on-ear headphones, over-ear headphones, and so on. Then we also have features like passive noise isolation, active noise cancellation, wireless, and etc., but what if you could combine all those features together?

Would that make the ultimate pair of headphones? Or would that be a “Jack of all trades, master of none” situation? We suppose that’s the answer the folks at Volant Sound want to find out as they have launched the Volant headphones on Kickstarter, a pair of headphones that they claim are a 3-in-1 solution.

So what do we mean by 3-in-1? Basically at its core, it seems that the Volant are a pair of earphones (first pair) that can be used the way it is. It can also be fitted into its headphone body (second pair), thus transforming it into a pair of headphones. Last but not least, Volant Sound claims that the third pair of headphones comes in the form of wireless connectivity, which apparently they consider to be its third form.

Essentially you could compare this design to that of ASUS’ FonePad/PadFone devices, except for headphones. We have to admit it is a clever idea but we can’t really speak as to how it might sound like. If you think this is an interesting product, then head on over to its Kickstarter page and pledge your support.
