Back in July, it was rumored that the folks at GoPro were readying a new Hero camera called the Hero5. What we learnt from that initial rumor was that the camera would shoot in 4K at 60fps (versus 30fps on its predecessor) and would also be able to shoot in 3D. However it looks like a newly leaked video has revealed at least one additional new feature.

In the video uploaded by a certain Konrad Iturbe on Vimeo that was discovered on Reddit by The Verge, it shows a brief 9 second clip of the Hero5’s menu. However what’s interesting is that it appears that from this video, it seems to suggest that the Hero5 will have a full touchscreen display on its back.

Touchscreen displays on GoPro cameras aren’t exactly new. The company did introduce a touchscreen display to the Hero4 Silver, but if this video is anything to go on, it looks like touchscreen displays could become a mainstay on GoPro’s future camera lineup, a feature which would much more convenient than using your smartphone.

In any case there’s still no word on when the next GoPro flagship camera will be announced, but we’ll keep an eye out for it. In the meantime GoPro has declined to comment on the leaked video.
