here-parkingFinding a parking spot can prove to be tricky sometimes, especially if it’s somewhere you’re unfamiliar with, or if it is in a particularly popular area/mall. Apps to help you find parking aren’t new, and recently we’ve seen navigation apps such as Waze come up with some ideas on locating a parking spot.

However the only downside is that you will need a smartphone, the app installed, and have it up and running. The good news is that German carmakers such as Audi, BMW, and Mercedes-Benz have come up with a different way of helping their drivers find parking spaces, and that is with the sharing of real time data with each other.

Through the digital map service Here, which was acquired by the German companies in 2015 for $3.1 billion, the cars will be able to gather information on traffic conditions, road hazards, road signs, and more. There will also be no action required on the part of the driver, which like we said, is less of a hassle than having to launch an app. It is also safer as drivers won’t need to keep looking at the app while they drive.

These services are expected to be made available in the first half of 2017, and it is expected that other car brands will be joining the service at a later date as well, so don’t worry if you don’t own a BMW, Audi, or Mercedes-Benz.
