There are many who are no doubt wondering what the future holds in terms of transportation. Will we be flying in the skies in our personal vehicles? Are cars on the ground still going to be relevant? Or might we have figured out how to teleport from one place to another? In the meantime, carmakers have been working on all kinds of ideas.
The US is a huge country and as such, driving across it would take a long time. In fact, it has been estimated that if you were to spend 8 hours a day driving, an entire trip from the coast to coast would take anywhere between 4-6 days. However, three guys – Arne Toman, Douglas Tabbutt and Berkeley Chadwick – have managed to achieve that in a potentially new record […]
A tweet from Tesla CEO Elon Musk suggests that the company might be interested in working with Daimler’s Mercedes-Benz on an electric van. Tesla itself doesn’t make vans, not yet anyway, while the Sprinter from Mercedes is known to be a veritable workhorse. It launched the latest generation of the Sprinter in February this year. Mercedes-Benz does plan to offer electric versions of the Sprinter from next year.
It was confirmed by Mercedes-Benz’s parent company Daimler and Bosch back in July that they would be launching a pilot program for their robo-taxi service in Silicon Valley next year. Some additional details have been confirmed about the service. Its fleet will consist of luxurious self-driving Mercedes-Benz S class vehicles and the service will be launched in San Jose, California in the second half of 2019.
The refreshed 2020 S-Class that Mercedes is working on may feature the company’s own semi-autonomous driving system. This, according to the company’s head of research. He said in an interview that this system will provide what’s referred to as “Level 3” autonomy. The system will enable the car to drive itself in certain situations without requiring any input from the driver. However, the driver will need to be ready to […]
The Mercedes-Benz factory in Tuscaloosa, Alabama is getting an upgrade which costs $1 billion. The upgrade includes a new battery factory which will be used to manufacture batteries for the company’s future electric vehicles. The groundbreaking ceremony has taken place at the new facility which is located seven miles form the Mercedes-Benz Cars vehicle production site in Tuscaloosa.
Mercedes-Benz showed a concept all-electric SUV at the Paris Motor Show two years ago and the company has today unveiled the production version of that concept. The German auto giant introduced the Mercedes-Benz EQC today, it’s an all-electric SUV that boasts a range of 200 miles and touts 402 horsepower.
German auto giant Mercedez-Benz is one of the many major car manufacturers working on electric cars. They’re expected to launch multiple models in the next couple of years. Mercedes itself is due to unveil a new electric SUV soon. It’s going to be a production model which means that customers will actually be able to buy it. The company has started teasing it ahead of the vehicle’s unveiling next month.
Many car manufacturers are now working on all-electric cars and they’re also trying to leverage their battery technology in order to gain a footing in the electric revolution that’s sweeping various industries. Tesla was one of the first car makers to do this when it launched Tesla Energy in 2015 and later came out with its Powerwall home battery pack. Mercedes-Benz did something similar last year but it has now […]
It’s not uncommon for luxury car manufacturers to launch their own car sharing services these days as they seek to tap into the market that prefers having access to a fleet of cars and the variety it brings instead of owning just one. Mercedes-Benz, one of the most well-known manufacturers of luxury automobiles, has announced and it’s jumping on the bandwagon as well by launching car sharing service in the […]
For the past couple of years, we’ve been hearing reports of Mercedes-Benz working on a smart headlights system that can project information on the ground as well as be smart enough to not blind other drivers. For the most part this existed as a concept, but in an announcement by Daimler (Mercedes-Benz’s parent company), that concept is now a reality.
The Sprinter van isn’t as well known as some of the other Mercedes vehicles because it’s meant for an entirely different segment of the market, one that’s not concerned with how fast it can go and how many people you can carry in it. As the German auto giant embraces the all-electric revolution for some of its primary models it has also decided to electrify its popular van. Mercedes-Benz has […]
One of the new features we’re seeing in cars today is the ability for them to be unlocked remotely through an app, or unlocking without the need for the insertion of a key or a press of the remote, as long as the owner of the car (and the key) is within distance of the vehicle. The goal is presumably convenience, but unfortunately it does raise some security concerns.
We’re sure many of us have experienced this while driving, where cars coming from the other side of the road might have headlights that are too bright and can blind us while we are driving due to the glare. This is annoying and especially dangerous if the road you are traveling on is narrow or dark and you are unfamiliar with it.
