waze-parkingWaze is a useful app as it helps find you the fastest route to your location. Now it seems that the app is going to be even more useful as it will help find you the best parking spot, thanks to a recent partnership with INRIX, a parking data aggregator, in which the data they collect will be used to help Waze users.

Now the “Where to park” feature was released first and basically how it works is that it shows drivers empty parking lots (this only works for open carparks). However with INRIX’s data, it will in a way “supercharge” the feature by making it more accurate, according to Flavia Sasaki Siqueira, Head of Business Development for Waze.

Siqueira says, “Driving around looking for spots impacts arrival times and adds unneeded frustration and stress to the entire driving experience. As the co-pilot for driver navigation, Waze has begun to rollout the first of its parking suite features to solve this issue for drivers. Combining INRIX parking information with our own parking database expands reach and accuracy of the ‘where to park’ feature.”

Unfortunately right now the feature is only live for users in North America and Europe, but it is expected to roll out to Waze users around the world in the coming months. In the meantime if you are in the US, you can look out for the feature.
