Samsung-galaxy-S7-Edge-13_900One of the rumors of the Galaxy S8 is that Samsung could be removing the home button. The home button has been present in pretty much every Galaxy S phone since its inception, so it wouldn’t be surprising if Samsung was looking to shake things up. So the question is, where will the fingerprint sensor go?

According to the latest rumors, it seems that there is a good chance the fingerprint sensor could be moved to the back of the phone. We’ve seen this adopted by many smartphone OEMs so it wouldn’t be that weird or out of place. Interestingly enough this also seems to “confirm” that Samsung won’t be relying on an ultrasonic fingerprint sensor that can read fingerprints from underneath the display, something that Apple is rumored to be doing.

In addition to the fingerprint sensor being placed on the back, the rumor claims that the Galaxy S8 could also feature the iris scanning technology found in the ill-fated Note 7. Considering that this is a new feature, it would seem silly for Samsung to not take advantage of it and use it for their 2017 flagship, so this rumored feature doesn’t really come as a surprise.

In any case take it with a grain of salt, but what do you guys think? Is a fingerprint scanner on the back something you’re not a fan of? Or does it not matter either way?
