samsung-flip-cover-e-ink-display
It’s not uncommon for Samsung to launch a handful of new accessories with new flagship smartphones. A new patent has been spotted which shows that the company has dreamt up a Flip Cover that features an e-ink display on the top. If it comes out with this accessory, it would be the first Flip Cover to have an e-ink display.

Previous iterations of Samsung’s Flip Covers have made use of slots to showcase part of the display so that users could get find out what notifications they had received at a glance. The slot also allowed them to easily view the date and time. Another iteration of the Flip Cover has a completely transparent front panel so the display is always visible.

This is going to be an interesting addition to the Flip Cover lineup as the e-ink display will be used to display notifications and other relevant information. This low-power display would enable the company to show the relevant information without sacrificing too much battery.

Since this patent has only just been published, it can’t be said for sure when this new Flip Cover is going to arrive, but one can keep their fingers crossed for a launch with the Galaxy S8 later this year.

Samsung has previously launched new Flip Covers alongside new flagship smartphones so there’s a good chance that the first e-ink display packing Flip Cover may be launched with the Galaxy S8 in a few months from now.
