Last year it was confirmed that a Pokemon RPG for the Nintendo Switch is in the works. This would be the first “proper” Pokemon game to arrive for the console, which at the moment only has Pokken Tournament DX as being the closest thing Switch gamers have to a Pokemon game.

However the question is when will it be released? According to a recent survey sent out by Nintendo asking gamers which Switch titles they would most likely buy over the next year, the Pokemon RPG was listed as one of the options. As far as the name is concerned, it is still being referred to as the Pokemon RPG, but this survey does seem to be in line with an earlier report which stated that the game could arrive in 2018 at the earliest (or possibly later).

Of course this is by no means a confirmation since Nintendo has yet to officially confirm anything yet, but this survey does give us a glimmer of hope. It is understandable that many gamers are excited at the prospect of playing a Pokemon RPG on the Switch. Prior to this, Pokemon games were largely exclusive to Nintendo’s handheld consoles.

However with the Switch being a hybrid which can double as a home console and a handheld, it should make playing Pokemon a rather interesting experience. Some analysts believe that if Nintendo can release the game in 2018, it will allow the Switch to command as much as 40% of the console market.
