When Apple launched the iPhone 6 Plus with its 5.5-inch display, we’re sure there are some who didn’t think Apple could go even bigger, but they did with the iPhone X, and now rumors are claiming that Apple could go even bigger with 2018’s iPhone with a 6.5-inch model rumored to be in the works.

Now in a report on Bloomberg by Mark Gurman and Debby Wu, it seems that they have heard that such a phone is indeed in the works, although whether this will be part of the iPhone X lineup or if it will go by another moniker is anyone’s guess at the moment. However they also report that the device will have a higher resolution 1242 x 2688, which should maintain the same sharpness as the iPhone X’s display, which presumably will allow Apple to use the “Retina” term when marketing the device.

In fact it is possible that a recently leaked photo has shown off the device in question, where an photo of the phone’s display made by LG Display in Vietnam was caught on camera. In the photo it looks pretty huge, but then again it probably wouldn’t be too difficult to fake such images or create a similar copy just to fool everyone.

In any case it’s probably best to take these reports with a grain of salt for now, but if you were hoping that Apple would match the Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9+ in display sizes, there is a chance you could get your wish this year.
