As it has been pointed out in many reviews, Avengers: Infinity War is a masterful strategy that’s ten years in the making. It has been a very long journey but based on reviews, it has proven to be very much worth the wait. So much so that it doesn’t really come as a surprise to learn that Avengers: Infinity War is Marvel’s highest grossing movie to date.

We know that the movie recently crossed the $1 billion threshold, but now the numbers are claiming that it has managed to earn $1.606 billion to date, allowing it to topple the previous number one movie, The Avengers which made $1.518 billion. In addition to being Marvel’s highest grossing movie, it is now the fifth highest grossing movie of all time.

It is behind the likes of James Cameron’s Avatar which made $2.788 billion, Titanic (another Cameron movie) which made $2.187 billion, Star Wars: The Force Awakens which earned $2.068 billion, and Jurassic World which made $1.671 billion. At the rate it is going, it is possible that Avengers: Infinity War would surpass Jurassic World.

That being said, it is understandable why despite Avengers 4 in 2019 closing the storyline, Marvel isn’t so quick to dismiss the idea of continuing the Avengers movie franchise, but whether or not they do remains to be seen, but Marvel is expected to share details about phase 4 of the MCU in 2019.
