We started hearing reports not too long ago that Nokia has developed a smartphone with a notched display as well. The company later unveiled the device as the Nokia X6 in China back in May this year. HMD Global, the company that makes Nokia-branded smartphones now, didn’t say anything about the global launch at that point in time but it appears that the Nokia X6 may soon be launched across the globe.

The Nokia X6 is a bonafide mid-range smartphone with its Snapdragon 636 processor, Adreno 509 GPU, 4/6GB RAM and 32/64GB storage, and its 5.8 inch Full HD+ 19:9 aspect ratio notched display.

The handset also includes a 3,060mAh battery, a USB Type-C port, Quick Charge 3.0, and a 3.5mm headphone jack. The handset runs Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box. HMD Global has priced the handset around $200 in China for the base variant.

The latest reports suggest that the Nokia X6 may be launched outside China as the Nokia 6.1 Plus. Hong Kong, a special administrative region of China, is said to be one of the first markets outside the mainland to get the Nokia 6.1 Plus. HMD Global is then expected to roll out this device in additional markets across the globe.

No word as yet from HMD Global on the release roadmap and pricing of the Nokia 6.1 Plus.
